Welcome to my closet!
I love pops of color—you can see that throughout my entire wardrobe.
Jeans
Firstly, I absolutely love being in comfy jeans—they’re so easy to get around in. I love wearing jeans with my super cosy & colorful, fluffy UGG slippers.
I love to wear jeans and a tee with a little kitten heel too!
T-Shirts
A white t-shirt is a staple for me. I think you can do a lot with a white tee—and a great layering piece. I love my Brandy Melville tee with a pair of jeans, or you can make it work with pants or skirts as well.
Shoes
The other white piece I live in are white sneakers; my favorite pair is from Common Projects. My husband wears these sneakers and has worn them for many years. I think he was actually a trendsetter for wearing them. I tried on a bunch when looking for the perfect white sneaker and absolutely love these!
I also love to have a great staple flat. A little Chanel flat is really versatile; you can wear them with jeans, skirts, shorts—and dresses too. My flats have definitely done a lot of walking.
A pair of kitten heels that I love are by from a friend of mine, Tabitha Simmons, they’re sparkly and make me so happy. I love that they have just a little heel as it’s not too high. Again, you can pair them with a beautiful dress or tight skirt, or just wear them with jeans and a t-shirt.
An awesome sexy heel is something that I love too! Recently I fell in love with a pair by Giovanno Rossi. I like heels to be sexy and versatile too—that way they can go with many different pieces in your closet. Another is a pair of heels with a red love heart on the back—great for date night!
I know I am going on a lot about shoes—but I am obsessed with shoes!
Another wardrobe staple for me is a pair of boots. My favorite is a pair of black high boots. I have spent a lot of time walking around the streets of New York City and Paris in them, and they are often with me through Fashion Week. I just love them!
I think everyone should have a pair of boots that they love. You can wear them underneath a dress even if you can’t see the whole length. For me, I love long boots!
Jackets
I love to layer pieces and a gorgeous leather jacket is a staple in my wardrobe. My favorite is a piece from Nicholas Ghesquière, he gave it to me when he was designing for Balenciaga. I just love this jacket; it fits like a glove still after all these years. I think that when you have a piece you love, it is an investment piece that you can keep for a long time. I feel it will always be in my wardrobe.
The same is for denim jackets—I love a denim jacket. My favorite is from Acne Studios. I wear it over dresses a lot. I love it for a relaxed look, over one shoulder. I also love the tone of denim; I love that wash feel – it’s also super soft and cosy.
I feel it is important to have pieces you can just throw on and feel automatically cosy. I love
Another of my favorite jackets is from Anine Bing. I think she does some really cool stuff. I don’t necessarily like to put my arms in jackets, I like to wear them over my shoulders as it feels more chill. To me, wearing a jacket can feel more serious, but popping it over the shoulders is a lot more relaxed—in my opinion anyway.
Dresses
It’s no secret but I am also a lover of long dresses. I love the feel of a long flowy dress as it’s so cosy and comfortable. You can leave it flowy or tie it to fit in all the right places. It makes me feel like I am wearing a robe! Speaking of robes; I am obsessed with robes and have many.
Another of my favorite’s is a red Dior dress, which is another investment piece that stands the test of time. It’s super cute and A-line, I love the color and it makes me really happy.
Accessories
Another thing I really love are hats. You can wear them with anything, whether on vacation or at home chillin’ in the garden.
Bags
Bags make me happy and so does color!
One of my favorite bags was given to me by my husband. It’s a cute little Louis Vuitton bag with little roses on it. I’m a very tactile person so I love the different textures.
Another of my favorite’s is a gorgeous little straw bag I bought in Darwin, Australia; it’s been an incredible bag to have through the summer months. It mixes and matches with everything. I feel a straw bag is also a great staple in anyone’s wardrobe.
A new piece I recently bought was the aNYbag. It’s super cool because it is hand crafted in New York and made out of recycled plastic bags. I love the color and design and can fit everything in there!
Oh, and talking about pops of color. I have a little yellow Celine bag my husband bought me. I love it, the yellow makes me feel so happy—it is like sunshine!
I also love a little bling bling! I feel like accessories can make or break any look. I have quite a big sunglasses collection as I like to have the right style and the right shape on hand. My two faves are from Cartier and Dior.
And that’s why I think it’s important to invest in shoes, sunglasses or handbags and staple pieces for your wardrobe.
To me, it’s all about finding favorite pieces and treasuring them!
