Understanding Blue Light

Understanding Blue Light

Day to day, many of us are spending more time in front of screens and the toll it can take on our health and wellbeing can often go unseen. Recently we launched a pair of DIFF Eyewear Blue Light Glasses to our Miranda Loves collection, so we’ve asked DIFF Eyewear to educate us on all things Blue Light, Blue Light Glasses and how we can care for our eyes.

Q: What is Blue Light?

A: Blue Light is a particular wavelength of light that’s been shown to potentially damage your retina.

Q: How can blue light affect us?

A: Blue Light symptoms can impact your sight after two hours of digital use i.e. your cell phone, tablet, computer, and sunlight. Symptoms include digital eye strain, headaches, blurry vision, and dry eyes.

Q: What are blue light glasses?

A: Blue Light glasses have lenses designed to limit your blue light exposure – which helps reduce damage to your eyes.

Q: How do blue light glasses work?

A: Blue Light blocking lenses have non-glare protection, which reduces the impact of blue light & digital eye strain.

Q: What are the benefits of wearing blue light glasses?

A: Blue Light blocking glasses help relieve eye discomfort from excessive device usage, increases alertness which induces sleep, and can help reduce the likelihood of age-related macular degeneration.

Q: How else can we care for our eyes with lots of screen time?

A: Other ways to take care of your sight is to sit at arm’s length from your screen, keep your eyes lubricated, and remember to take breaks every 20 minutes by looking at an object at least 20 feet away to allow your eyes to relax.
