The Power of Cold Beauty

The Power of Cold Beauty

We love an ice-cold pool plunge under the guise of Cold Therapy to boost the immune system and awaken the mind. Did you know that Cold Therapy is also beneficial for your complexion—and more importantly—firming your skin?

We like to think of it as an instant face lift from Mother Nature, to awaken and tighten your skin using just ice and water.

Dr. Simone Laubcsher, our contributing nutritionist & naturopath, believes in the power of cold. Sharing that, “Immersing in water 59° Fahrenheit (15° Celsius) or less is a mood booster, due to the surge of endorphins.” She also loves it to “Improve circulation, reduce inflammation, boost the metabolism, and improve skin and hair health.”

Our new Active Algae Lightweight Moisturizer touches on the power of Cold Therapy with the ingredient Swiss Glacial Water; a special H20 encapsulated into liposomes to penetrate the skin for deep and long-lasting hydration.

We’ve asked our beauty contributor, Kylie Wells, to share her wisdom on the art of Facial Cryotherapy—and pen a ritual for you to try at home.

Cryotherapy is best understood as using cold temperatures to heal the body, and it has numerous benefits to help leave your skin with a radiant complexion.

Although this is a fairly new craze, and you may have seen people all over social media in ice baths, ice healing has actually been around for centuries.

Ice is a powerhouse as it locks up, and closes down, blood vessels in areas of swelling and puffiness; freezing nerves in the process too.

An ice water facial can be introduced to your daily routine a few mornings a week for 5-10 minutes. All you need is a bowl of cold water and ice, and perhaps a slice of cucumber for cooling benefits.

Just a few minutes is like a natural face lift—working to:

  • De-puff eye bags by decreasing inflammation
  • Reduce fluid build-up in the face
  • Remove toxins
  • Encourage better blood circulation to oxygenate the skin
  • Reduce redness
  • Reduce pigmentation
  • Reduce the appearance of large pores
  • Soothe muscle tension and temporarily tighten the skin
  • Help improve superficial wrinkles.

Another favorite ritual of mine, for clients and myself, is to pop the Rose Quartz Heart Sculptor in the freezer and perform a cooling and refreshing facial drainage massage with it!

The power of ice cold is real.

Kylie
