Healthy living to me is about a holistic 360-degree view to looking after yourself emotionally, physically and spiritually, and finding what works for you because we are all different and enjoy different things. Finding balance in all areas of our life is important – including setting aside personal time, to do things that bring you joy.
As I’ve shared many times, I generally follow an 80/20 rule, meaning I make healthy choices 80% of the time and indulgent choices 20% of the time. That way I’m not depriving myself… because if I do, it naturally makes me want it more.
KORA Organics is also focussed on enhancing overall wellness. We encourage our customers to look after themselves emotionally, physically and spiritually because we believe the health of our mind, body and skin are all connected.
Our philosophy is to; Feed your MIND with positive affirmations and self-love; Feed your BODY with the nutrients it needs to function at its best and Feed your SKIN with products to help detoxify, nourish and revitalize.
Going into the New Year is a great time to re-look and re-evaluate how you can live a healthier, more balanced lifestyle, so here are a few of my healthy living tips.
Celery Juice
Every morning on an empty stomach, I drink at least 16 ounces of organic, cold-pressed celery juice.
Celery is amazing as it’s a powerful anti-inflammatory, supports kidney function, is alkalizing and also full of electrolytes. I feel it really helps my digestion, brain-fog and energy levels.
Meditation
Regular meditation helps me in stay calm and centered. I try to meditate at least twice a day – morning & night, and sometimes during the day when I can.
In the morning it helps me to set my intention for the day, so I start the day with a positive mindset. During the day it helps me re-center and re-focus so I can best navigate through any challenges; and at night it’s great to let go of the day and unwind for a deep restful sleep. Recently I’ve learned Kriya Yoga, which is ancient mediation technique of energy and breathe control. I also practice TM meditation and sometimes I’ll do a guided mediation. I like to switch it up based on how I’m feeling.
Dry Body Brushing
Each morning before showering, I dry body brush – I find it’s the best way to help get the circulation going, remove any dead skin cells and energize my body. I start at my feet and move up my leg with quick strokes, then gently on to my arms brushing towards the heart. After my shower, I apply a combination of Noni Glow Body Oil and the Enriched Body Lotion all over. Then I also apply a layer of Noni Glow Body Balm on my belly, breasts and hips as I have just given birth and those areas need a little more nourishment and hydration since they are more prone to stretchmarks. I repeat this again in the evening after I have bathed.
Facial Massages
Another step to my morning and evening beauty routine is our heart-shaped Rose Quartz Facial Sculptor, which harnesses the ancient healing technique known as gua sha. It’s a rose quartz heart-shaped stone used massage your face & neck to stimulate circulation and reduce puffiness while lifting, toning and sculpting your face. I use this technique daily for a 5-minute facial massage with the Noni Glow Face Oil as it also helps it absorb deeper into your skin.
Exercise you enjoy
I also think it’s important to exercise regularly and to move your body, so I try my best to schedule in some sort of exercise 3-4 times per week at a minimum, even if it’s just for 20 minutes.
I like a mix of Kundalini yoga, Pilates and swimming – these exercises are gentle but great at toning and elongating the muscles. I also think it’s important to walk as much as possible. I try and get 10,000 steps in each day.
Take Time Out For Yourself
I feel it’s important to take a little time each day for yourself.
For me personally, I find if I can take 15 minutes to do a meditation, or set aside some time to exercise or read a chapter of a book, I feel much more balanced and am able to give so much more to my family, work and friends.
Prepare For Sleep
Sleep is so important for our overall wellness.
Incorporate a little night-time ritual to help yourself wind down from the day and to encourage a restful nights sleep. I like to do a meditation, turn off the wifi and then mist my face and pillow with KORA Organics Calming Lavender Mist as the aromatherapy is very soothing and relaxing.
Kindness
Cultivate and encourage kindness in all that you do.
When people see acts of love, kindness and compassion they are moved to do something similar. So, your acts of kindness not only affect the recipient, but also create a ripple effect to those around them.
