Although KORA Organics is for everyone and not age or gender specific, male facial skin can often need a heavier cleansing and exfoliating routine to balance oil and sebum. This is due to the presence of facial hair, as well as being thicker, tougher and thirstier.
Daily shaving can cause damage to the hair follicle and create blockages in the hair shaft within the skin. This is known as folliculitis, and presents as breakouts, ingrown hairs and red inflamed skin.
We’ve shared the go-to products our male customers reach for—and shared what Miranda’s husband uses daily for his youthful glow.
A DIY Routine
Whatever your gender, it’s important to tailor a skincare routine to your skin type.
We’re aware that some men prefer to keep skincare to a minimum. A thorough routine consists of at least three of the below products, at least once daily.
For a thorough skincare routine—follow all four steps in order, morning and night.
Step One | Cleanse
Wash away impurities with a refreshing mint scent and menthol feel. Double cleanse to remove heavy zinc SPF products and sunscreens.
A pre-shave step or an in-shower morning must-have for combination and oilier skin types.
Step Two | Exfoliate
A daily must-have for thicker, oilier skins’ that have a regular shaving routine to prevent and treat the visible signs of ingrown hairs.
This is a revered shower-time scrub, to free your skin of dead cellular material that causes congestion.
Step Three | Moisturize
Hydration is key for all skin types—and an unmissable step in any routine.
Our Turmeric Glow blend is deeply nourishing and balanced for all skin types due to the nature of Turmeric.
It also helps to fill your skin with nutrients and hydration to visibly ease the effects of sunken skin, known as fine lines and wrinkles; as well as giving a softer feel.
Step Four | Oil
A favorite for thirsty dry skin, a face oil helps to seal in moisture and the above step of hydration (moisturizer) into your skin.
Although slightly confusing, it’s good to know that oil gives moisture, and moisturizer gives hydration—and that you need a layer of both for healthy skin.
Following a layered skincare routine with at least three of the above steps—and all four for a thorough routine—will help to protect against premature aging for softer and more supple skin.
Oily & Combination Skin
Some male skins’ have more sebum production than others and need both steps of cleansing and exfoliating—yet may only need one step of replenishment: a moisturizer or face oil.
Dry & Sensitive Skin
In this case we suggest opting for at least one cleansing or exfoliating step (ideally both) yet ensuring you layer with both steps of moisturizing and face, daily.
We adore what Evan loves about our cult-classics for dry skin:
Evan uses the Turmeric Brightening and Exfoliating Mask as a scrub every morning in the shower without fail. He says he can’t be without it because it’s his little boost of aromatherapy in the morning! It gives him energy! And he uses the Turmeric Glow Moisturizer and the Noni Glow Face Oil. Those are his three products (he also uses the body wash and body lotion!).
He naturally suffers from very dry skin, and these products have been able to give his skin that beautiful glow. His skin looks so nourished and rejuvenated now… it’s incredible to see the results firsthand with him.” – Miranda
