Every twenty years, Feng Shui energies shift because of planetary movement. Since the word for planet does not exist in Chinese, we call them stars and they influence our environment.
Currently we are wrapping up Feng Shui Period 8 (2004-2024) and shifting into Period 9 (2024-2044) which is akin to the Age of Aquarius in Western Astrology – considered the age of transition. Western astrologers believe that the Aquarian Age is about turning the power over to the individual, giving the freedom to choose your own reality based on what aligns with your soul.
In Chinese Metaphysics, we say that Period 9 is a time of deep transformation. As the planet leaves Period 8 –a time of young men being in control (think Elon Musk, Richard Branson, and Jeff Bezos over the past twenty years) – into Period 9 – we open up the star energies for female power. The transition has begun with an emergence of female-owned businesses and more women of influence with strong female voices finally being heard on a global scale. This is the era of intellectual ladies and a time for those who are spiritually aligned. Once everything settles down in a few years, we should experience twenty years of a nice prosperous time for everyone.
The question then becomes, what can we do to maximize our full potential and power in a Period 9?
Whether you are starting out in your career needing confidence and encouragement, or reinventing yourself after having success in other fields, I want to help you shine in the spotlight. As one of the few female directors in Hollywood in the late 1980s with cult classic chick flicks Assault of the Killer Bimbos and Modern Girls I know what it’s like to persevere in a male-dominated industry.
Those challenging experiences helped shape me personally and professionally. Everything I learned from those years in the movie business taught me the tools I needed to go beyond that success and grow two more lifestyle businesses. In my current career as a Cosmic Coach, I asked a few of my Hollywood friends who are successful both behind-the-scenes and in front of the camera what sage advice they could share from their life journeys to help you with yours.
Ask for what you want.
“The truth is and I would tell anyone this, ask for exactly what you want. Nobody is going to read your mind. Nobody knows your hopes and dreams. I’ve learned to find my voice. During my TED Talk (May 2017) I told the story of landing the job editing JJ Abrams’ first feature film MissionImpossible III. I was busy editing his TV series Alias (from 2001-2006) and JJ had no idea Iwanted the movie gig. He was set to hire another editor when Imarched into his office, furious “Why aren’t you considering me to editMission Impossible III?” He didn’t know I wanted the job because I hadn’t asked. He offered me the job on the spot. Since then, I have edited most of JJ Abram’s films.”
– Maryann Brandon, Academy Award-Nominated editor for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Emmy Award-Nominee for the TV show Alias.
There really is no age limit.
“I always believe there are great roles for women at any age, you just have to stop putting out into the universe that there aren’t because you will get that energy back. You won’t see those opportunities. But if you are out there looking for great female roles or whatever calls to you and gives you excitement in your body, you need to lean into it. Those roles in film, on TV, or in life are out there and you will find them if you are open. It is the power of intention. The law of attraction.”
– EG Daily, Actor, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Valley Girl, Emmy Award-winning animated series Rugrats, Happy Feet, and The Voice.
Connect body, mind, and spirit to balance inner and outer beauty.
“Beauty is an important topic, especially as western women. True beauty really does come from within. This is our secret life. We struggle with depression. We struggle with self-image. So, how do you maintain your inner beauty? Your inner balance? How do you connect body, mind, and spirit and have all of those things in balance? I practice yoga. I want my physical practice to match my spiritual practice. If I want to have an easy day my yoga might be more meditative. If I need more physical strength or to detoxify, I do yoga in the heat. Since I travel a lot, I found that every city has some sort of yoga practice I can attend. It’s the fountain of youth that makes me happy and clears my mind.”
– Virginia Madsen, Actor, Golden Globe and Academy Award-nominee for Sideways, Joy, and Swamp Thing.

Hi Anita
Thanks for your insights and advice. I wanted to ask about Feng Shui for the environment. Is there things we could do to also help promote and give more energy power to transition your inner self?
Thanks
