International Woman’s Day is a holiday that is particularly special for the KORA Organics Team. In the words of our Founder and CEO, Miranda Kerr, “It’s important that not only today, but every day, we uplift, encourage, and empower each other.” As a nod to the women of the world, we asked a few (of many) talented women in business who we find beyond inspiring, what International Women’s Day means to them. Here’s what they said…
“Like many women in the beauty industry I knew this was the one place where I knew I could dictate my own future. As an artist, a curator of image, and a product developer…owning my art is very important to me and I wanted to empower women with my products. But ten years ago, the concept of clean beauty didn’t exist but I knew there were women much like myself looking for more out of their products than the status-quo. Today I find myself privileged to witness a shift. In fact, we are all witnessing a serious shift. THIS NEW GENERATION IS EXTRAORDINARY and powerful! They care about ingredients and how it affects their health. ‘Treat yourself’ has replaced the old concept of ‘attracting the perfect man’ and this is both exciting and empowering. Having a part in that is something that I am forever proud of!”
“I always get excited on International Women’s Day because its a celebration of women’s strengths that have been ignored or belittled for so long and are now finally being recognized. Our ability to multi-task and run homes and businesses and contribute without wildly demanding credit. Our creativity and sense of fun and sense of urgency around making change while we still can.”
“I started FREEDOM Deodorant when my three friends were diagnosed with Breast Cancer. In the USA, one in every eight women are diagnosed yearly with Breast Cancer, and as a mother to three young women, I wanted to make a difference. Through FREEDOM, I have inspired not only my female friends, but people in general to pivot to a cleaner lifestyle. International Women’s Day reminds me of my mission to empower women through healthy living initiatives.”
“My Grandmothers (Helena and Quinn) each had eight children and worked outside the home. All while gracefully exuding a balance of strength and gentility that is inherent to the sacred feminine. That duality, which they so beautifully embodied, is what inspired me to create a line of clothing which both embraced and sought to promote that concept. It’s not a coincidence that silk is both one of the softest and strongest natural filaments occurring in nature. For me, International Women’s Day is a remembrance of that inspiration, and of the power of feminine energy, wherever it may be present.”
