Being a lover of traditional medicine I revel in creating my own tea blends using herbs. Tea has been used for centuries as a herbal remedy. By immersing herbs in hot water at various times of the day I have experienced multiple benefits and natural healing, ranging from digestive ease to calming of the nervous system.
I first became aware and began experimenting with herbal teas and their benefits whilst struggling with allergies. Whilst walking through a bustling Spanish market in Denia many years ago, I met with an old, traditional Spanish lady who was surrounded by the most beautiful array of colours of every dried herb in huge wooden barrels. After a lot of translating, her recommendations have now become a part of my everyday routine. I use Stinging Nettle and Peppermint to help with itchy eyes and sneezing and Yerba Mate for a pick me up energy boost. I also drink green, purple or white tea for mental focus or a Rooibos chai for a simple hug in a mug.
One of my favourite night time rituals is this Dream Tea blend for inducing sound sleep.
