If You Can See It, You Can Have It in 2017 by Suzannah Galland

If You Can See It, You Can Have It in 2017

I like to think of 2017 as an open book. Why not call it a celebration of YOU? The first page starts on January 1st. It is your journal, and what if you knew that the words you write could take form. Imagine that?

We all want to celebrate our life. But verbal affirmations like, “Every day I will lose weight,” or “My house is clean and tidy” just don’t cut it. To lose weight, drink less or catch a date, you may need the right actions to do the trick.

What do you crave? A new home, or baby, or a closet filled with Dolce & Gabbana? Whatever it is, then it’s time to rewrite your story and in the present. Whenever you live in this moment, making the most of it, time and again, you’re naturally at your most powerful, most capable, most alive.

Lilly is from Los Angles and wants to get married. She’s single, depressed and “filled with flaws” – or so she believes. Lilly has spent the last seven years pining for a huge wedding day, but now she’d be grateful for a Vegas bash. Lilly is dateless, overweight and feeling clueless how to bring in her beau. Her New Year’s resolution is to lose weight, but her secret desire is to get married.

First, I asked Lilly to talk about marriage and what it means to her. She gave me a solemn look. She said, “I just want to share my life with someone special.” Her eyes were lifeless. Her words monotone. For Lilly, life had taken its toll.

Lilly looked to me to help her lose weight. What she needed was an out of the box approach.

Like all brides who try on gowns, I knew she’d love to see herself in one of them.

After all, beauty is about the way you move, and express yourself.

“Be patient and find that one-of-a-kind dress you’ve always imagined yourself wearing,” I told her, “Enjoy the daydream of becoming a bride.” And take a close friend with you for support.

At first, she was hesitant to do this. ”I’m too fat,” she said, “Nothing will fit me.”

I gave her a gentle nudge. “Make sure to feel the finish of the fabric,” I said. “See the glowing potential of you.”

Lilly’s adventure was a success. And her feedback was everything I hoped for. Her eyes brimmed with joy. She experienced a mystical ecstasy. For the first time, she knew what it would feel like to be a bride.

“I am going to lose 20lb and start dating.” She said.

Lilly had wanted to lose weight for a bigger reason – to get married. But to achieve her goal, she needed a more tangible motivator. Taking ACTION to explore what it would feel like to be a bride created a cycle of energy to propel her forward. And that was a grand motivator for her to lose weight.

We all have wants and desires, but we rarely listen to our hearts. By physically experiencing the thing you want and in real time, your mind will believe that you already have it. Take a chance on something you want, through a door that you’ve never opened. Go for something heartfelt. Make it bigger!

If your house is a mess, maybe it’s because you secretly want to redecorate. So, to motivate you, why not view a luxury penthouse interior? “I can’t afford it, so what’s the point?” you say to yourself. But it might be just the push you need to redesign or de-clutter your home.

If you want that wardrobe filled with Dolce and Gabbana? Get dressed up, take yourself out and try on everything in their store. Fall in love with the feeling of wearing the clothes – imprint the image into your mind. And, if you’re looking for love? Date yourself, take yourself out to that restaurant with a close mate, buy yourself flowers. Light those candles and smile.

In other words, by stepping out with a kick-starting motivator is a good way to inspire a goal you’ve been putting off for years.

There’s nothing more exciting than a glimpse of the future. If you can see it, you can have it!

It all starts by making 2017 a year of celebration for you.

A Sultry Soft Smokey Eye – Lisa Storey

kora-lisa-storey-a-smokey-eye-blog

Working with Miranda on many shoots, sometimes back-to-back days and occasionally two shoots in one day, I can see how her approach to health with organic choices really take effect. Her diet and using KORA Organics products keeps her skin healthy and balanced, and her energy consistent. I’m often curious of what food she brings to work, it’s always delicious, healthy on the go nutrition… that makes the long hours and need to remain energized much easier.

The make up looks can go in any direction… a sultry soft smokey eye like the one we created for the Swarovski campaign still looks fresh and bold even at the end of the day with Miranda’s eyes naturally sparkling through.

For this look I applied a peach gold (Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Color) on the lid and inner lower edge of the eye then a bronze to the outer eye, shaping and contouring to lift the eyes up. Next with a powder shadow (Tom Ford eyeshadow quad in Cognac Sable) I blended outwards to create the soft smoky effect. Chanel precision eyeliner in Amber on the inner lid and lashing of mascara completed the look.

I use my hands as a palette and am constantly cleaning them off so I always have KORA Organics Daily Hand Cream with me to nourish and replenish them after continual cleaning. At times I can get eczema (a type of dry skin) on my palms from using artificial hand soaps and detergents (when out and about) but I use the healing and protective KORA Organics Daily Hand Cream as my go-to treatment, knowing I can touch faces, prepare food etc. without the worry of having anything other than organic on my skin.

A Simple Fresh Faced Beauty Look by Lisa Storey

lisa-storey-gritty-pretty-shoot-a-simple-fresh-faced-beauty-look

I have worked with Miranda on many different types of shoots and commercials and every time I am reminded of her approach to beauty, from not only what you put on your skin, but what you put in your body and how you feel contributes to how your skin looks. Eating organic and using organic products that nourish the skin (and body) when possible I think really makes a difference. As a make up artist its always amazing to create looks and watch Miranda bring her magic to them. Well moisturized skin is key for any look. I like to use KORA Organics Hydrating Day and Night Cream, sometimes mixing in a drop of KORA Organics Luxurious Rosehip Oil for extra richness. My favorite looks on Miranda always start with natural radiant dewy skin . The next step is applying the KORA Organics Tinted Day Cream followed by and rose tinted cream blush (La Praire Cellular Radiance Cream Blush) A little concealer where needed (Cle De Peau) and a soft pink tone added to lips and we have a simple fresh faced beauty look.

A Calming Energy On Set – Lisa Storey

kora-lisa-storey-a-calming-energy-on-set-blog

A favorite discovery of mine while working with Miranda was the KORA Organics Heart Chakra Essence. For a start I love the packaging, elegant narrow dark glass tube. The ball application that delivers just enough oil on your skin. I apply it to my wrists before starting make up. My hands are always close to the faces I’m working on and mine too… together we become surrounded with a calming aroma. I do believe, it has an effect…it reminds me to take some sweet deep breathes especially when in a challenging situation, like having to hurry up and get on set! I have experienced while working with Miranda how her approach to life resonates and inspires others, you see the curiosity that gets ignited about choosing a healthy and organic (when possible) lifestyle. I think kindness starts with taking good care of yourself, this, Miranda exudes…then you can spread that kindness everywhere and experience some genuine feel good moments! Another favorite thing to use is the KORA Organics Calming Lavender Mist and the KORA Organics Energising Citrus Mist. Gently spraying it in to the air around the face livens up make up and helps you feel refreshed …I also just offer a spray to anyone in the room…. its rarely declined!

Becoming Irresistible Starts with a Smile

KORA Suzannah Galland - Becoming Irresistible Starts With A Smile (1)

Recent studies suggest that the secret to becoming irresistible starts with a smile.

And, like most of us, if you find yourself in a humourless place, and maybe feeling alone, the last thing you’ll feel like doing some days is smiling.

You maybe asking: How can I turn this around?

Honest laughter is what you need

I suggest you make comedy your ally, there’s nothing more powerful.

Take a YouTube moment and look up your favourite comedians.

Start watching those funny moments a few minutes a day and in no time you’ll find yourself shifting from misery to joy. You’ll start to see humour in people and situations you thought were drab. Your mates and loved ones will vibe your mood and start taking themselves less seriously too.

Laughter is a natural gift for your mind and body and if you’re fortunate enough to belly laugh your way through the morning, it’s a great work out for the stomach.

It’s the perfect way to set the mood before a meeting and don’t you want to feel more fabulous before a date?

You can’t go wrong, after all, a huge smile will make people irresistibly drawn to you.
And how can you resist that!

Tips for 2016 from Miranda’s Feng Shui Expert

Anita Rosenberg - Feng Shui

What I have discovered through my life’s travels is that having it all begins at home. When we’re at home, we should feel comfortable, happy, pampered, surrounded by beauty and all the things we love and the people we cherish.

I believe that living in a place that reflects our highest ideals, our sense of peace, our present abundance and our hopes for the future is one of the most powerful and effective ways to create a lasting personal nirvana. It should greet us when we walk in the front door and go along with us when we head back out into the world.

More than just a place to crash after a long day in the trenches, our homes are a reflection of who we are and speak directly to the quality of our lives. When our homes reflect less than our personal best, it’s a pretty good indication that we are leading less than excellent lives.

Feng Shui (say it right: fung shway) is a 3,000 year old Chinese Art. It is not a fad or religion; it’s an environmental science concerned with the Qi or life-force energy in the environment. Originally used by kings and emperors to build palaces and temples, it is now used by everyone because it works.

FENG SHUI TIPS FOR 2016:
Miranda is one of my favourite clients because she rolls up her sleeves and does the Feng Shui work to shift her energy to create more success, happiness, good health, joy and love in her life. She wanted me to share with you top tips to help you get started for a fabulous New Year.

1. Make sure your foyer or main entry is clean and clutter free because this is where you invite good Qi into your home. It is called a Ming Tang or Bright Hall and the Qi needs to enter, collect and circulate. This is where your home invites new opportunities.

2. Most auspicious sectors of your home for wealth in 2016 are the Southeast, Southwest and East. Take a compass measurement of where those areas are located and spend more time in these rooms. If there are windows or doors in these sectors, open them more often. Qi is activated by using a space.

3. 2016 is the Year of the Fire Monkey, which means that fire will be the dominant force of the year. Metaphysics and self-improvement will be good to focus on for major personal break-throughs. It will not be a relaxing year and you may have to work harder, but the rewards can be huge. A personal BaZi Chinese Astrology reading is always suggested at the beginning of a new year to gain personal guidance on how you can maximize the year. Miranda never misses an opportunity to consult her BaZi!

Are you ready to Feng Shui in the New Year?

Anita’s Secret to Spiritual Shopping

Quan-Yin by Anita Rosenberg

My mother asked me to take her Buddha shopping. She wanted a Buddha for our family home. A greeter for the foyer, something magical and inviting that ushered in good fortune and happiness. So, we went to the “Buddha Store” and what caught our attention was not Buddha. It was a lovely little statue of a goddess. It was Quan Yin who drew us in with her power. This is the secret to shopping for spiritual statuary is to be open because you never know what will call out to you.

Who is Quan Yin?

She is the diva goddess of Buddhism. Known as Quan Yin or Kuan Yin in Chinese, Quan ‘Am in Vietnamese, Kannon in Japanese and Kanin in Balinese. She is mysterious and powerful, blessing everything with spiritual and physical peace. Quan Yin reminds us to be true to ourselves.

What are her goddess powers?

When you have negative thoughts, a prayer to Quan Yin will drive them away. Simply by calling out her name you can overcome anger.
When you need to be more positive and stop judging yourself and others, she helps you focus on light and love.
Quan Yin awakens talents for musicians and singers.
Her loving energy helps those want to conceive children.

How to recognize her?

She wears a white robe and holds a lotus blossom in her hand as a symbol of purity. She might be standing or seated on a lotus or pouring a pitcher of healing water representing the “Water of Life.” Sometimes she drags her pet dragons along.

Where to place her?

Quan Yin makes a lovely greeter in your foyer. Place her in the bedroom when trying to get pregnant. In the office she helps you attract new clients. Quan Yin goes anywhere and where she appears light and love follow.

Encourage Kindness

Encourage Kindness

This time of year is one of my favourites, mostly because it’s the season of goodwill and gratitude. It’s a time to pause and reflect on the year that’s been, celebrate hard work, acknowledge the lessons we’ve learnt, and thank all who’ve guided and supported us along the way.

I’m incredibly grateful for my family, my friends, my colleagues and each of you who support me in my passion, KORA Organics. I truly believe in the products we create, but for me KORA Organics is so much more than skin care. It’s uniting a community who band together to bring positivity and kindness into the world.

As we head into 2015, I ask that we all continue to consider the impact we have on each other’s lives, and how a simple act of kindness can transform another person’s day. Encourage kindness in all that you do.

I’ll leave you with a quote from someone I admire from the heart, Amma the Hugging Saint.

“Love is our true essence. Love has no limitations of caste, religion, race, or nationality. We are all beads strung together on the same thread of love. To awaken this unity–and to spread to others the love that is our inherent nature–is the true goal of human life.”

Happy Holidays!
